• Job: Refractory Engineer • Location: Stockton-on-Tees • Salary: negotiable + Benefits
My Client one of the world's leading engineering and plant building companies for the international metals industry. Who to date have completed more than 1300 major industrial projects in some 80 countries, are looking for a “Refractory Engineer” to work from their Stockton-on-Tees office.
Role
The successful candidate will take an important role in the Engineering team executing projects for the Design and Supply of Refractories for Iron making, Steelmaking and Continuous Casting Projects
Tasks
• Preparation of basic and detail drawings for industrial plant and equipment.
• Checking of engineering drawings produced within the department and external parties
• The preparation of calculations for thermal gradient, BOM etc
• The preparation of engineering specifications for the purchase and supply of equipment and services.
• Preparation of the technical portion of purchase orders for the supply of equipment and services.
• Technical monitoring of procurement contracts for the supply of equipment and services.
• Ensure the correct document administration, including numbering, listing, filing and issuing.
• Generally provide supervision, technical advice and guidance to more junior departmental and agency staff.
• Undertake inspection at vendor works
• Provide technical supervision during the site installation and commissioning phases of projects.
• Coordination with other functions, clients and consortium partners
• Preparation of cost estimates for pre projects
• Preparation and giving of presentations to customers and potential customers
• Occasional working with other functional groups as design engineer, according to balance of company workload.
Education / Knowledge
• Comprehensive experience in the use of CAE systems for the preparing of engineering drawings, preferably with Autocad, along with ability to use the Microsoft Office package.
• A knowledge of refractory materials and design would be advantageous.
Experience
• Candidates should possess a minimum of a HNC or equivalent in a Mechanical or Civil Engineering discipline with experience in an Engineering Operations, Maintenance or Contracting role, or alternatively substantial experience in the design, production or installation of refractory materials
• Engineering Design within the relevant BU
• Communication skills
• Team skills

• Able to travel both nationally and internationally, possibly at short notice for short and longer durations
