    Major Technical Services Ltd is a specialist recruitment business focusing on supplying temporary, interim and permanent Engineering personnel to a large portfolio of clients.

    For our client based in Darlington, Co. Durham, UK, specialising in the design, build and commissioning of LNG tankage and jetties worldwide we are seeking a suitably qualified and experienced Commercial Manager to be based at their Head Office in Darlington.

    Responsible to the company for the effective management of all commercial aspects of the Project. To deliver a safe and profitable project that protects the company's financial and commercial interests. To provide competent and committed professional services to the company. As a pro-active member of the Project Senior Management Team, integrate fully with all project and corporate disciplines to ultimately achieve the following objectives:-
    Enhanced Profitability and Cash flow.
    Effective Management of Risk and Change.
    Ensure Contractual Compliance is achieved.
    A thorough understanding of the Project CVR Costs in terms of both the Estimating Cost-Base, Expended, Incurred, Committed and Forecasts Costs on Completion.
    Achieve a comprehensive understanding of the Profit Drivers (and loss leaders) on a project and communicate this to the PSMT.
    In Conjunction with the Project Leader, develop a strategy for maximising profitability of Profit Drivers, (and minimise or reverse loss leading activities) and discuss/agree implementation methodology with the PSMT.

    Recognised qualification and training. The candidate should have good people management skills, Excellent IT skills (Excel and Word essential, PowerPoint desirable). Good knowledge of the various forms of contract used within the industry. Ability to lead contract negotiations with clients and sub-contractors. Ability to present issues clearly and concisely, both internally and externally on the company's behalf.

    Previous experience in a similar commercial lead role or with the necessary skill-set to take the next step up. Experience of working on multi-discipline major engineering construction projects, ideally in the Oil, Gas and process sectors.

    This role can be either a permanent or contract position. Pay and conditions are negotiable.
