Job Description

Must have supervisory experience working within a payroll department. Work on the implementation of any new payroll initiatives. Manage and report on month ends and year ends. Understand and work on all payrolls when required. Ensure timely payment of all monthly and weekly deductions. Maintain all required documentation in compliance with legal requirements. To provide reasonable role cover in payroll manager absence. To provide guidance and input monthly/weekly payroll data into coins system working to pre-defined timescales. Process and monitor all staffing changes i.e starters, secondments, transfers, leavers and any other amendments to employees data. The input, calculation and recording of sickness payments both statutory and occupational.check and process and authorising of travel and expenses claims in accordance with council policy and statutory legislation.To provide guidance and advise employees and managers on payroll issues at first point of contact for enquiries.

Must have knowledge and experience of computer based payroll systems. Must have supervisory experience. Experience in delivering monthly/weekly payroll. Ability to work under pressure and to meet strict deadlines. Must be able to communicate with all levels of staff. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Excel.

Desirable knowledge of coins payroll system. Recognised payroll qualification /s like the Institute of Payroll Professional (IPP). Management or Supervisory experience.
