Full Description:
Our client in Teeside is looking to appoint a Manufacturing Development Engineer to join their team in Teeside.

The purpose of this role is to provide a production engineering service to manufacturing, managing projects and new product introduction, and implementing and maintaining the company manufacturing strategy.

Priority will be given to candidates with a background in automotive, engine and heavy construction machinery industries.

Key Responsibilities:

Compilation of accurate material, labour and/or tooling costs/estimates.
Lead and participate in new product/process introduction.
Attend Design Reviews and support the concept of Design for Manufacturing & Assembly.
Develop supporting information for manufacturing costing (scrap levels, time standards).
Develop & maintain systems and procedures in accordance with TS16949, ISO14001.
Lead and participate in multi functional improvement projects.
Develop, implement, document and maintain optimum manufacturing methods (Optimum ULH, Reduce Work in Progress, 7 Wastes).
Specify plant and machinery, design plant layouts, facilitate line balancing and ensure Standard Operating Procedures are documented and available for production personnel.
Develop Capital equipment requirements and project manage capital equipment procurement introduction.

Essential Skills:

Qualified to degree level in Manufacturing/Mechanical related discipline.
Proven experience working in a similar role in an Assembly related Manufacturing environment.
Understanding of design processes: FMEA, Design Review, Fixture, Tool, Equipment Design.
Robot programming experience preferred.
Proven Project Management skills.
Knowledge of Six Sigma skills, would be beneficial.
Understanding of Lean manufacturing techniques: SMED, TPM, 5S, Line balance, Kaizen.
Attention to detail, good communication and problem solving skills.
