| Our client in Durham is looking to appoint a suitably qualified and experienced Design Engineer to join their team. Key Responsibilities: This position will focus on design and validation work in support of the engine business Use ProEngineer as an engineering tool in the layout, modeling, and analysis of engines, engine sub-systems, engine components and assemblies Perform form, fit and function studies to insure quality designs that meet all design requirements and space constraints Perform static and kinematic machine design calculations as appropriate Perform design analysis using tools such as ProMechanica Prepare technical data and complete documentation of work Write engineering releases that adhere to product definition standards and guidelines Make supplier, OEM, and end-user customer visits as appropriate to support design and validation activities Work closely with manufacturing and suppliers to achieve producible, quality designs at the lowest possible cost Participate in the upgrading and creation of Design Standards Participate in cross functional Design Reviews Actively support local plant and MTO projects pertaining to the implementation of Corporate Responsibility initiatives. Develop and manage to Individual Work and Development Plans with Design Leader and Team Leader. Essential Skills: - B(Eng) minimum in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering Prefer candidates who have a distinct interest in electro-mechanical design, stress analysis, and product development Previous co-op or internship experience desired Technology degrees (HNC / HND) would be considered for strong candidates with relevant experience. Proficiency, or strong desire to learn, Pro/E, Mechanica and other computer aided design and analysis tools. Capability to understand and apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing per ASME Y14.5M-1994. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must be flexible in taking on different responsibilities as the work changes. Must work effectively in cross-functional technical groups/teams. Must be self motivated and require minimal supervision based on sound planning skills |
