A Care Manager/Matron is the leader and a working member of the nursing/care team and, as such, has overall responsibility for the nursing/care management of the home, monitoring of the performance of all staff, ensuring standards are maintained and that adequate cover is provided, the Care Manager/Matron will be expected, at times to work at night, at weekends and on bank holidays. The Manager/Matron is responsible for directing and motivating the team. The Care Manager/Matron is designated as a Registered Manager in accordance with CSCI requirements and will work within the general philosophy specified in the Homes, Statement of Purpose and adhere to the Care Standards.
The Statement of Purpose is basically as follows:
Firstly to consider the resident as an individual and treat them with the dignity and respect which their age and experience of life deserves. To meet residents own physical, emotional and spiritual needs in a non-judgemental way and to respec residents privacy and personal space.
Secondly, that the quality of life is more important than longevity and that our Home gives purpose and enjoyment to life.
Finally the home is to be "real home" for the resident. giving the resident the right to make independent decisions about their lifestyle within the context of community living. Residents who are unable to be totally independent and motivated to achieve more wherever possible.
