| Please note. Work will be part time negotiable hours. Position Overview The objective is to ensure the on time delivery of bought in goods and services in the right quantities and quality at the lowest acceptable cost to give Awesome Service to our customers. You will identify the most appropriate supplier base for the business, involving rigorous selection and rationalisation of current and new suppliers. Your role will be to select the most appropriate suppliers and services on the basis of price, quality and services support. You will develop the best buying strategies with a view to consistently maintaining quality and managing costs in an increasingly competitive marketplace. You will also be responsible for the training and supervision of one direct report. Essential Job Functions To ensure the on time delivery of bought in goods and services in the right quantities and quality to give Awesome Service to our customers; To develop and implement a purchasing strategy across two sites leading to the achievement of key business objectives and budgets; To achieve the most appropriate supplier base for the business, involving rigorous selection and rationalisation of current suppliers. To identify and implement cost reduction opportunities. Negotiating and agreeing contracts and monitoring their progress; To resolve any issues that may arise regarding the supply contract. To develop relationships with supplier base to ensure competitive pricing structures are secured and maintained. To manage and develop the supplier base, achieving improvements in service and product quality. Checking cost, quality and levels of service; Keeping a constant check on stock levels to maximize business efficiency; Training and supervising the work of other members of staff. To contribute to the development and implementation of robust and controlled processes and procedures, within the Purchasing function. Perform all duties commensurate with the position as requested by the management Non-essential Job Functions Visiting suppliers and auditing their processes when required; Ensuring suppliers are aware of business objectives; Presenting reports and results at regular management meetings; Presenting ideas on new products and suppliers to senior staff; Producing reports and statistics using computer-based programs; To input into the future purchasing strategy of the company. To develop supplier evaluation and review processes which ensure that customer quality is assured. Developing market knowledge and contacts for new products and services; Requirements You will have a proven background as a buyer within an engineering, manufacturing or mechanical background and be able to demonstrate proven results in cost reduction activities. Able to present proposals, reports and results at regular management meetings. Must be able to build relationships with suppliers and manage suppliers effectively, to ensure timely delivery goods and services at the right quality and cost. Must be able to negotiate effectively with suppliers to achieve cost reductions and report accurately on cost information. Must be able to manage the appropriate administrative tasks required to maintain the smooth running of the department. This includes raising enquiries, orders and producing reports of a written and numerical nature. To analyse supplier quality performance measures and recommend planned programmes for improvement.
