They are seeking to recruit a Junior Contracts Manager to support the Contracts Manager with contracts of varying sizes and complexities. 

Main Tasks &amp;amp; Duties 

- Assisting the Contract Manager with Planning 
- Assisting with Financial Control 
- Communication and client liaison 
- To assist the Contracts Manager with their daily duties and responsibilities 
- Establish and maintain a high standard on regards to business conduct 
- To assist with the handover from the Technical Projects Department to the Site Management Team 
- To assist with the preparation of regular reviews/updating of programmes 
- Administration of document management system 
- Assist with auditing of site procedures 
- To assist with the preparation and updating of project budgets to completion 
- Regularly interrogate cost and value reports 
- Arrange regular progress meetings 
- Distributing meeting minutes to all relevant personnel 

Essential Skills/Qualifications/Experience: 

- Excellent numeracy and literacy skills 
- IT Literate including MS software 
- Sound Administrative ability 
- Experience within the Construction Petrochemical industry 
- An understanding of Method Statements, Risk Assessments and Safety Audits 
- Understanding of CDM Regulations 

Desirable Skills/Qualifications/Experience: 

- Understanding of contractual requirements

Areas of Responsibility include:

 Strategic management of all commercial activities relating to contracts
 SWOT Analysis of current systems and procedures for controlling all financial aspects of the contracts
 Implementation of new procedures and training of appropriate personnel as required
 Management, negotiation and resolution of Claims
 Contract negotiation
 Contract review pre and post contract award
 Involvement with the estimating function for contract costing purposes
 Examine and negotiate changes to all main contract terms and conditions
 Preparation of main supplier and or sub-contract conditions
 Preparation of application for payments with the main contractor
 Preparation of Final Accounts
 Management of the billing process and credit control for interim payments and retention 
 Cost Value Reconciliation and delivery of monthly reporting of key financial data relating to site performance
 Relationship management with the main contractor/client
 Manage the commercial business planning process
 Support and lead contract negotiations and act as part of the business development team
 Create, maintain and enforce policies and procedures to manage and control commercial risk
 Implement a cost control system
 Other duties as required in line with commercial responsibilities



Essential Skills/Qualifications/Experience:

Critical background experience &amp;amp; knowledge (must be demonstrated)

 Commercial experience within an engineering environment
 Experience of presenting to clients
 Commercial management of sub contractors
 A background in Quantity Surveying
 Contract knowledge
 Good IT skills and experience of Excel spreadsheets

Job Purpose

Person Specification

-Establish strong, effective relationships with all members of the Mechanical Department and its key customers - internal and external.

-Remain up to date with Mechanical and Engineering best practice, industry trends and data and statutory requirements. To include PSSR, design codes, site specifications and document control procedures.

-In line with both internal and external compliance requirements, undertake assigned audits, communicating outcomes and supporting and driving action points.

-To act as a central contact and information point for other departments on designated matters.

-To contribute to E &amp;amp; M, Mechanical section and department meetings, team objectives, policies and procedures.

-To portray the position of Mechanical Engineer in a positive and professional manner.

N.B. This list is not exhaustive and additional responsibilities may be undertaken, dependent upon business need.




Skills/Qualifications/Experience:
